This is a brand new website to provide support to anyone seeking questions about education. It is taking a great deal of time to get this site started, and I have asked for questions from local parents. My goal is to reach anyone who may have a question about education; from simple to complex questions. Please feel free to participate. As many of our past teachers have said, “For every one person willing to ask a question, there are many more people who have the same question, but are too afraid to ask.” First names are enough on this website. Email addresses are never shared! I want everyone to feel free to participate. I don’t claim to have all of the answers, but I will do my best to find answers for anyone. With the help of fellow parents and educators, I hope to build a search-able database of questions and answers for everyone to use.
The primary purpose for this blog will be to answer questions about education. Questions from parents and guardians, or from other educators. Why offer free educational advice when I could get paid to be an educational consultant? Many parents and other educators cannot afford to pay for additional professional advice. There are some parents who rely primarily on their children’s teachers, but teachers have very little time to provide substantial advice. Teachers work overtime every day, and are expected to be tutors and consultants when they barely have enough time to create engaging lesson plans, grade work, and participate in professional development. People need to understand how much work teachers are responsible for in their careers. There are many misconceptions.
This blog will also provide a place for peer interaction; a place where parents can communicate with each other about educational experiences. Sometimes parents need to find out how other parents feel about experiences with teachers and schools. Communication is a key component in the education of our children, and it should begin at the parent level. Parents can write about a situation they experienced, or they can ask questions from other parents to get a different perspective on a problem or concern. This is a place where you will not be judged, and you can feel comfortable to communicate openly. Don’t worry about grammar and spelling; you are not being graded.
